Information Design. Fall 2022

Consumption is a word that encompasses a broad range of actions,
including eating, drinking, buying, and using. What can be
consumed is an even more numerous list.

This virtual exhibit covers the topic of consumption from several
angles and perspectives by looking at data on specific items,
products, or services and bringing out the story buried within raw
numbers and facts. The exhibit's topics fall under three main
              categories: food/drink/drugs, media, and money.

From these three areas of consumption, the exhibit presents
meaningful information on subjects ranging from organic produce to
the cost of college to even ease of consumption reflected in
leisure. Data visualizations and designs contextualize and clarify
raw data and large numbers that would otherwise be hard to
understand and compare. Pairing the data visualizations with
additional information further explains the data and provides
insight into our behavior as consumers and the trends of our
              society.

Our consumption is influenced by where we live, the era that we
live in, our internet usage, our household income, and far more
factors within and beyond our control. Through this exhibit, we
aim to reveal patterns and inspire changes.
